Using Base Groups

Last Updated: 12/03/2015 Introduced in Verision: 2.0

Using base groups is a way to associate different groups with one another. When you associate a base group (for example, Group A) with another group (Group B), all members of the new group (B) automatically belong to the base group (A).

If you need to delete the base group relationship, simply select the group using the base group and from the Manage menu, select Remove Base Group. This change is not retroactive, however.

Example

In this example, there are two groups, an HR group and an Operations Department group. Since HR is a part of Operations, it will be used as a base group.

Create the Operations group that will serve as the base.

Next, create the HR Department group, selecting Operations Department as its base.

Add users to the HR Department group.

Now, open the Operations group. Notice the users added to the HR Department group are found.
