Marking a Job to run on one Server when ClusteringLast Updated: 07/11/2016 Introduced in Verision: 2.0
Server clustering allows for active load balancing, as well as active/active or active/passive failover in the event of a server failure. The Primary Job Server is the member of the cluster that is responsible for allocating jobs to all members of the cluster.
If the platform is configured to use server clustering, you can designate that a job should run on the current server, instead of letting the primary job server allocate the job.
To run the job on the current server while in clustering mode, in the Job Schedule wizard, on the Clustering Settings step, select the Run Job on Current Server checkbox.
In the example, we add a URL Job that will run every 15 minutes on the current server, instead of using another server in the cluster.
Firstly, make sure your Portal is in Studio mode. Studio mode is easily identified by the orange menu bar at the top.
We navigate to the folder System > Jobs And Events > Scheduled Jobs, and click the Add Schedule Job button.
We select the URL Job option and click Next.
This job will verify that a URL can be accessed over the Internet, confirming that a Web site is running.
On the Cluster Settings step, we click the Run Job on Current Server checkbox.
Though the platform is using server clustering, this job will not be allocated to run on another server in the cluster.
We click Next.
On the Simple Calendar step, we select the schedule for the job, Every 15 Min, and click Next.
The Schedule Job wizard closes and when this newly added job runs, it does so on the current server.
