Exporting by ModuleLast Updated: 08/18/2016 Introduced in Verision: 2.0 |
The Export > Export Selected Module option makes it possible to export entities that are associated with a module. The module can be one of the modules that comes with the Decisions platform, or a module created by a user. User-defined modules are created while performing the export using this option. The purpose of this export option is to pull in all entities for a project to create a module that can be installed.
Example
This example will export entities as a new module for a Travel Request process. The entities are Designer entities that comprise a process. First, it is necessary to identify the entities that will be a part of the module. This is done at the individual entity level. Entities can be selected for inclusion in a module individually, in a group, or selected by the folder level.
Include Individual Entity in a Module
From the Designer Folder that houses the Travel Request entities, select individual entities to include in a module by clicking the entity’s Action menu, and selecting Manage > Export: Select Export Module.
To create the module, type the module name in the Module Name field. In this example, the module name is “TravelRequest”. (If the module already existed, it would be available from the drop-down list.) Click Add, or OK to select the existing module.
A folder is created for the module in the Program FilesDecisionsDecisions Services ManagerExport[Module Name] directory on the server. The folder needs to be zipped, however, if it is going to be installed as a module.
Include a Group of Entities in a Module
From the Designer Folder that houses the Travel Request entities, click on the Folder View link at the top of the Portal. Click the Multiple Selection icon, located on the right in the Folder Data report toolbar.
With the folder data in multi-selection mode, click the checkboxes for the entities to include in the module. From the Group Actions menu that appears, select Manage > Export: Select Export Module.
Include a Folder’s Contents in a Module
From the Designer Folder that houses the Travel Request entities, select the folder to include in a module by clicking the folder’s Action menu, and selecting Manage > Export: Select Export Module.

Installing a Module
The process of installing a module created by export is the same as the process for installing any other module. Modules are installed by copying and pasting the module zip files into the server’s Program FilesDecisionsDecisions Services ManagerModules directory and restarting the Service Host Manager.Note that Administrator privileges are required to copy to this directory.
In order for a folder’s contents to be installed as a module, it first has to be zipped. Right-click the folder for the module and select the “Add to Zip” option available (the wording will vary depending on the application installed on the server).
Right-click the module files and select Copy.
Browse to Program FilesDecisionsDecisions Services ManagerModules directory and paste the files.
Restart the Service Host Manager by either running the installer and selecting Restart Services, or by accessing Services on the server and selecting Restart Service for the Service Host Manager.
To view a list of what will be included in an export module, use the Manage > Export: Include Dependencies in Module menu option. This shows a list of all dependent objects that will be included in the module. (Note: the list is not intended to enable removal of entities; it is just to show what is currently included in the export module should the module file be created.)
