Creating Static Navigation by Pinning a FolderLast Updated: 12/03/2015 Introduced in Verision: 2.0 |
Static navigation can be created by pinning a folder to the address bar. Subfolders will be displayed as links and actions as menu items in a section of the address bar that will not change, no matter the user’s location in the portal.
To pin a menu, navigate to System > Settings and select the Edit Portal Settings action. In the resulting pop-up, open the Pinned Folder selector and select the folder to be pinned.
Example
In our example, we will create static navigation links to the folders under the Service Desk Tickets folder by pinning it.
The current links menu of the address bar is completely dynamic. Depending on where we are in the portal, it will display links to different sub-folders and pages. For example, in the My Home folder, we will see links to the My Home view and the Folder View.
To pin the Service Desk Tickets folder, we will navigate to System > Settings, select Portal Settings and select the Edit Portal Settings action.
In the Edit Portal Settings pop-up, we will search for “Pin” to help us locate the Pinned Folder control.
We will open the Pinned Folder selector and select the Service Desk Tickets folder.
This completes our changes to the Portal Settings, so we will click the Save button.
Now, when we navigate to the My Home folder, we will see our Service Desk Tickets subfolders pinned to the address bar. When we open their action menus, we will see all of the actions available to the folders.
Because the Service Desk Tickets folder has been pinned, these links will remain static in every view of the portal.
