Configuring the Report Viewer

Last Updated: 08/12/2016 Introduced in Verision: 2.0

Configuring options for the Report Viewer allow the user to set the behavior and appearance of this component on a portal page.  Options include changing the appearance of buttons and filters, enabling group actions, setting a default report, and more.

Configure the Report Viewer in the Page Designer.  Select the Report Viewer in the workspace and, in the Properties Panel, set options in the Behavior section.

The goal of this example is to:

  1. Create a portal page and add a Report View to it.
  2. Configure the Report Viewer by selecting the default report, changing the view mode, and setting the output option.

Begin by selecting a Designer Folder that contains a page with the Report Viewer.

Click the page’s thumbnail, then click the Edit link to open the page in the Page Designer.

With the Report Viewer selected, in the Properties Panel, under Behavior, click the Default Report selector.

In the resulting Picker pop-up window, browse the folder list on the left.  The reports in that folder display in the list on the right.

Select the report to display and click Ok.  When the portal page opens, this report displays by default in the Report Viewer.  If other reports are stored in the current folder, a user can also select those reports to view.

In the Properties Panel, from the View Mode checkbox list, select for the options as desired.  The View Mode checkboxes set an additional report format to view.  To view charts or a matrix for a report, that report must already have a chart or matrix defined.

The page is complete.  Save it and close the Page Designer.

To view the page with the Report Viewer, select its thumbnail and select View > Preview Page from its Action menu.

Select the different View Mode buttons to change the view of the report.
