Configuring a Report Actions BarLast Updated: 08/17/2016 Introduced in Verision: 2.0 |
A Report Actions Bar contains buttons that allow a user to quickly access primary functions, such as adding and editing entities, that are related to the rows on a report. Once a Report Action Bar has been added to a report and a user clicks a row on the report, the buttons on the actions bar update to reflect the actions available for the entities in the row.
Add a Report Actions Bar to a portal page in the Page Designer. In the Toolbox Panel, drag a Report Actions Bar component to the workspace from the Report category.
Example
The goal of this example is to:
- Create a portal page.
- Add a Report Actions Bar and a Report Viewer to it.
- View the page to see the Report Actions Bar in action.
To begin, navigate to a Designer Folder and click the Create Page/Dashboard button.
Give the new page a name and click Ok to open it in the Page Designer.
Begin creating the page by adding two components to it.
In the Toolbox Panel, in the Reports category, drag a Reports Action Bar component to the workspace.
The Report Actions Bar is not associated with the report yet, so a red alert icon displays next to it.
Then drag a Report Viewer component to the workspace.
Next, associate the Report Viewer with the Report Actions Bar.
In the workspace, select the Report Actions Bar. In the Properties Panel, in the Display Info section, select Report Viewer Part 1 in the Actions Source drop down list.
Then set a default report to open in the Report Viewer.
Select the Report Viewer in the workspace. In the Properties Panel, in the Behavior section, click the Default Report selector to select the source report entity.
In the resulting Picker pop-up window, select the report and click Ok.
This completes the page. Save the page and close the Page Designer.
To view the report and its actions bar, click the page’s thumbnail and select View > Preview Page in its Action menu.
Select any row in the report viewer and actions related to that row will be displayed in the Actions Bar.
Select a row corresponding to a Designer Folder, the actions available for that folder display.
Select a row corresponding to a Folder, the actions available for that folder display. Notice there are fewer actions available for the folder than the designer folder.
