Associate Contract with Asset

Last Updated: 12/03/2015 Introduced in Verision: 2.0

The configuration management database (CMDB) is used to manage assets such as hardware, software, computers, office equipment, furniture, and other items. Assets typically have an associated financial amount and can be tied to a contract.

To add a contract, navigate to the folder System > Applications > Ticket Based Tasks > Contracts and click the Add Contract button. Associate the contract with an asset on the Add Asset pop-up

Example

In the example, we will:

  1. Add a contract to the ITSM.
  2. Add an asset to the CMDB.
  3. Associate the asset with the contract.

To begin, we navigate to the folder System > Applications > Ticket Based Tasks > Contracts, and click the Add Contract button.

addContract

We enter a name for the contract and click Save.

Next, we create an asset, then associate a contract with it.

We navigate to the folder CMDB. We click the All button and select Add Asset.

addAsset

In the resulting pop-up, we enter a name for the asset.

nameAsset

To associate the asset with our newly added contract, we scroll down to the Relationships section and select the contract name from the Contract drop-down list. We click Save.

setContract

The asset is now associated with the contract, and displays in the CMDB folder data panel.
