Adding a Title and Legend to a ChartLast Updated: 08/12/2016 Introduced in Verision: 2.0 |
Charts represent report results in a graphical form. To enhance charts, a title and a legend can be added to a chart in the Report Designer.
To add a title to a chart, select the Show Title checkbox in the Chart Settings section of the Properties Panel. To add a legend to a chart, drag a Chart Legend component to the workspace from the Reports > Charts category of the Components Panel, then under the Settings section of the Properties Panel, select the chart in the Chart drop down list.
Example
The goal of this example is to:
- Edit a portal page to include a pie chart.
- Add a title to the chart.
- Remove the title and add a legend to the chart.
Begin by navigating to a Designer Folder. Click the Edit link on a portal page thumbnail to open it in the Page Designer.
Next, drag a Pie component into the workspace from the Reports > Charts category of the Toolbox Panel.
To make the best use of the page space, enlarge the chart by dragging the lower anchor of the chart’s frame.
In the Properties Panel, under the section Chart Data, open the Source selector and select the report and value to be used as a data source for the chart.
Under the Chart Settings section, select the Show Title checkbox and fill in the Title field with “Pie Chart”. The new title will appear above the chart in the workspace and can be viewed in by previewing the page.
Next, drag a Chart Legend component into the workspace from the Reports > Charts category of the Toolbox Panel.
In the Properties Panel, under the Settings section, select the chart in the Chart drop down list.
The result will be similar to the below image.
To remove the chart title, select the chart and under the Chart Settings section, clear the Show Title checkbox.
This completes the page. Click Save Page, then click Ok.
To preview the page and chart, click the Preview link at the top of the Page Designer.
The chart and its corresponding legend will appear in the new window.
